Why do people drive lawn tractors through small towns?

Are they on their way to mow a relative’s lawn or is this some form of alternate transportation? I’d never noticed this phenomenon until I moved to a small town. Nobody seems to think this is odd so I never have asked. I just saw my first lawn tractor of the season though and the old question has once again arisen. I’m not making fun of these guys – I really do want to know the answer.

Some of them mow lawns as a way to make some small amount of cash over the summer. Others believe it saves on gas money and it saves on your cars from wearing down from driving all over town with the stop and go.

  • P.S.:

I hate the assholes who do this.

I’ve noticed that people do this in certain towns as well. I have lived in a LOT of different towns. Most smaller towns have at least one prick who does this.

I think they do this because they are red necks and have nothing better to do. They probably received their 4th Drunk Driving arrest and lost their driver’s license, or they just want to annoy other people by spewing out 200 decibels of noise for no fcking reason.
It’s possible that they want to mow somone’s lawn down the street and are too stupid to put the damn mower on a trailor like normal people do. Or too stupid to get a second mower and have one at each location.

Any chance they are driving it to get gas?

They could be going to mow someone else’s lawn.

In my small town sometimes kids drive them because they aren’t old enough for cars.

There is nothing wrong with it. Same reason people who owns golf carts drive them to town. Sorta like a status symbol. We had an old man driving his lawn mower to the store..Got pulled over for being drunk. Was fined for drinking and driving.

maybe some of yall are not from a smaller town…but i mean would a farmer really put his tractor on a trailor (wasting time and money) to move it 1 mile down the road to another property? you city kids are just in a freaking hurry and need to grow some patience. by the way im not even from a small town.
